STANDING COCKAPOO SCULPTURE

“This Cockapoo sculpture was modelled on Leo, a bouncy boy who enjoyed walking in the lovely woods and green fields around his home.
His owner was keen to have a standing pose and I accompanied them on a walk to watch Leo’s movements and temperament. I took lots of photographs while we were out and had the opportunity to catch him as he paused to look at something that had caught his interest.”

This bronze cockapoo statue bears Tanya’s signature and unique edition number. Your casting of the Standing Cockapoo sculpture will be personally approved and will be accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.

10% of the proceeds from this bronze dog sculpture support ‘The Dogs Trust’ animal charity.

Which Material to Choose

Bronze Resin – bronze metal powder is mixed with a resin to create the appearance of foundry bronze metal, but is more affordable and lightweight.

Foundry Bronze  – refers to the poured molten metal that is cast solid or hollow, depending on size, at a bronze foundry (using the traditional lost wax process). It is more robust and will appreciate in value.

Sculpture Description, Bases & Fixings

Suitable for outdoor display as a cockapoo garden ornament or cockapoo memorial statue.

This statue is provided with screw-in threaded rods for added stability in soft ground, which also allow you to bolt it onto, or glue it into, hard surfaces. This beautiful lifesized cockapoo statue is sculpted by the artist Tanya Russell, who is the UK’s pre-eminent dog sculptor. Tanya has a passion for improving the welfare of the animals she sculpts and 10% of all proceeds from the Standing Cockapoo statue will go to the ‘Dogs Trust’, a charity that provides sanctuary and rehoming services for dogs in the UK and also lobbies for welfare policy changes all over the world.

The Standing Cockapoo is a limited edition sculpture, and your piece will be a superb recreation of the original clay cockapoo sculpture, taken from a mould. Your bronze dog sculpture can be cast in Bronze Resin or Foundry Bronze metal depending on which material you prefer.

How The Sculpture Was Made

I visited Leo and took lots of photographs of him in a variety of poses. I watched his expressions and mannerisms, and heard about the way he behaved at home with his family. After that, with his owners, I decided which pose would suit him best, then proceeded to model Leo in clay.
One challenge with the Cockapoo breed is the length of coat. As with many dogs that are clipped, choosing the ‘haircut’ makes a huge difference to the look and feel of the final sculpture.

Once I’d sculpted Leo a rubber mould was taken, with ‘keys’ placed in the rubber to ensure proper positioning. Then a shell of fibreglass was applied, to protect the mould and support it during the casting process.
