Intention behind the sculpture
The Jack Russell Terrier sculpture was the first small dog I created for the ‘Charities’ series. I specialise in dog sculptures and have been sculpting them lifesize for many years. When I create larger sculptures I make maquettes – small models to show what the larger sculpture will look like. Many of the maquettes are quite beautiful in their own right. So it was interesting to explore how working at a much smaller scale could translate into a finished piece.
Once I’d sculpted the terrier a rubber mould was taken, with ‘keys’ placed in the rubber to ensure proper positioning. Then a shell of fibreglass was applied, to protect the mould and support it during the casting process.
– Your jack russell terrier sculpture raises money for dogs in need –
The Jack Russell Terrier sculpture statue is part of my Charities Range. 10% of the proceeds go to the Dog’s Trust. The charity cares for over 15,000 dogs each year through its network of 20 rehoming centres. It works to ensure that all dogs can enjoy a happy life, free from the threat of unnecessary destruction.
If you would like to commission a Jack Russell Terrier sculpture, and want to ask a question about a sculpture of your own dog, I have some information about bespoke sculptures and pricing on my commissions page.
Available to order when out of stock
If the Jack Russell Terrier sculpture is out of stock, I can have one cast for you within 12 weeks. I can possibly have it cast in 4 weeks if your sculpture is for a special occasion. Please be aware when buying the jack russell terrier statue for delivery to the US or other countries outside the EU, your local customs duties may apply, (this is most applicable to high value sculpture).
Bronze Resin (known also as Cold Cast Bronze) is made from a polyester epoxy resin with real bronze powder mixed into the surface layer. The final product is patinated (a term that describes the reaction of chemicals with the bronze powder in the surface) to give it a very similar colour to foundry bronze.
Foundry Bronze is made from molten metal using the lost wax method. Bronze metal is a blend of copper and tin along with other metals to give different characteristics to the final product.
Both forms begin as a clay or wax sculpture, from which a mould is taken, but Foundry Bronze casting is a costly and time-consuming process. Cold Casting allows for faster production and a more affordable sculpture.
