COMMUNITY CAT SCULPTURE
The Community Cat sculpture is based on Robert the Allotment Cat, who was commissioned as a public statue in Birmingham, England. Sculpting Robert, so he could be remembered by all his friends at the allotments and online around the world, was a real privilege. He and his friends played such a big role in the campaign to save Walsall Allotments from being paved over for car parking, and the community’s story bringing love and hope to people far beyond Birmingham and the UK, and inspiring people to protect our furry friends, our green spaces, and all the animals that call them home. I was really happy to, to sculpt a cat that represented the kind of communal kindness that is so valuable to street cats, and feral cats. They find a home where they can, and I hope more of them find the kind of wonderful home that Robert and the other cats found with the gardeners of Walsall Allotments.
Robert had a very distinctive half-ear scar, which is not present in the Community Cat sculpture based on him, but it can be re-introduced if requested in the Foundry Bronze metal material.
This bronze cat statue bears Tanya’s signature and unique edition number. Your casting of the Community Cat sculpture will be personally approved and will be accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
10% of the proceeds from this bronze animal sculpture support the ‘All Creatures Great and Small’ animal charity.

Which Material to Choose
Bronze Resin – bronze metal powder is mixed with a resin to create the appearance of foundry bronze metal, but is more affordable and lightweight.
Foundry Bronze – refers to the poured molten metal that is cast solid or hollow, depending on size, at a bronze foundry (using the traditional lost wax process). It is more robust and will appreciate in value.

Suitable for outdoor display as a cat garden ornament or cat memorial statue.
This statue is presented with a base for stability, though if requested it can be supplied with long threaded rods so you can attach it to a surface of your choice instead. In Bronze Resin, the base will be made of slate resin. In Foundry Bronze metal, the base will be made of polished black granite.

This lifesized street cat statue is sculpted by the artist Tanya Russell, who is well known for her life-like animal sculptures. Tanya has a passion for improving the welfare of the animals she sculpts and 10% of all proceeds from the Community Cat statue will go to ‘All Creatures Great and Small’, a charity that provides sanctuary and rehoming services for domestic animals rescued in England and Wales.
The Community Cat is a limited edition sculpture, and your piece will be a superb recreation of the original clay cat sculpture, taken from a mould. Your bronze cat sculpture can be cast in Bronze Resin or Foundry Bronze metal depending on which material you prefer.
How The Sculpture Was Made
I took all the photos of Robert the Allotment Cat provided to me by the lovely gardeners at the Walsall Allotment Gardens, and visited the intended site for Robert where we decided together that Robert would look very at home walking along the bannister of a wooden garden gazebo. I spent a long time reading the books about Robert, and hearing the stories about him, and his personality. When I was ready, I began to model him in clat, with wax for the extremities like the ears, that I didn’t want to dry out.
The wax was modelled, over a steel and aluminium armature for support. After Robert the Allotment Cat was finished a rubber mould was taken, with ‘keys’ placed in the rubber to ensure proper positioning. Then a shell of fibreglass was applied, to protect the mould and support it during the casting process. The Community Cat statue has an intact ear, where Robert had lost the end of his, and this change was added later.

International delivery is available.
If you are an international buyer, you may need to pay local customs duties or taxes when importing a sculpture into your country. This most often applies to more valuable sculptures. Your local customs and taxes are not prepaid for you. If you contact us we can try to estimate them for you.
Sculpture that is broken in transit to you may be returned, and a replacement sculpture will be sent to you, at no further cost. If no replacement is available, we will cast a new one for you, or offer you a refund.
