LYING STAFFIE SCULPTURE

“This Lying Staffie sculpture was modelled on my own beautiful dog Asha, when she was younger. It represents one of my first dog sculptures and the beginning of my love for sculpting dogs in my artwork.
I sculpted Asha from life, taking lots of measurements and photographs, then proceeding to model her in clay. Once I’d sculpted Asha a rubber mould was taken, with ‘keys’ placed in the rubber to ensure proper positioning. Then a shell of fibreglass was applied, to protect the mould and support it during the casting process.”

This bronze staffordshire bull terrier statue bears Tanya’s signature and unique edition number. Your casting of the Lying Staffie sculpture will be personally approved and will be accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.

10% of the proceeds from this bronze dog sculpture support The Dogs Trust animal charity.

Which Material to Choose

Bronze Resin – bronze metal powder is mixed with a resin to create the appearance of foundry bronze metal, but is more affordable and lightweight.

Foundry Bronze  – refers to the poured molten metal that is cast solid or hollow, depending on size, at a bronze foundry (using the traditional lost wax process). It is more robust and will appreciate in value.

This alert lifesized staffordhire bull terrier statue is sculpted by the artist Tanya Russell, who is the UK’s pre-eminent dog sculptor. Tanya has a passion for improving the welfare of the animals she sculpts and 10% of all proceeds from the Lying Staffie statue will go to the ‘Dogs Trust’, a charity that provides sanctuary and rehoming services for dogs in the UK and also lobbies for welfare policy changes all over the world.

The Lying Staffie is a limited edition sculpture, and your piece will be a superb recreation of the original clay staffordshire bull terrier sculpture, taken from a mould. Your bronze dog sculpture can be cast in Bronze Resin or Foundry Bronze metal depending on which material you prefer.

How The Sculpture Was Made

I took lots of photographs of Asha in a variety of poses. I watched her expressions and mannerisms, and tried to replicate the way she sat and looked that day in Battersea. After that I proceeded to model Asha in clay.

Once I’d sculpted Asha a rubber mould was taken, with ‘keys’ placed in the rubber to ensure proper positioning. Then a shell of fibreglass was applied, to protect the mould and support it during the casting process.
