LYING LABRADOODLE SCULPTURE

“The life-sized Lying Labradoodle sculpture was a commission of Spence. Spence is a very gentle old boy, and he is the second labradoodle I have sculpted. Spence had undergone an operation for cancer to provide him with more time with his loving family, and when his sculpture was finished he was still going strong! While a sitting pose was a favourite, his poise and scruffy handsomeness when lying with two feet on one side made this the final choice the clients and I decided on.

This bronze labradoodle statue bears Tanya’s signature and unique edition number. Your casting of the Lying Labradoodle sculpture will be personally approved and will be accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.

10% of the proceeds from this bronze dog sculpture support ‘The Dogs Trust’ animal charity.

Which Material to Choose

Bronze Resin – bronze metal powder is mixed with a resin to create the appearance of foundry bronze metal, but is more affordable and lightweight.

Foundry Bronze  – refers to the poured molten metal that is cast solid or hollow, depending on size, at a bronze foundry (using the traditional lost wax process). It is more robust and will appreciate in value.

This noble lifesized lying labradoodle statue is sculpted by the artist Tanya Russell, who is the UK’s pre-eminent dog sculptor. Tanya has a passion for improving the welfare of the animals she sculpts and 10% of all proceeds from the Lying Labradoodle statue will go to the ‘Dogs Trust’, a charity that provides sanctuary and rehoming services for dogs in the UK and also lobbies for welfare policy changes all over the world.

The Lying Labradoodle is a limited edition sculpture, and your piece will be a superb recreation of the original clay labradoodle sculpture, taken from a mould. Your bronze dog sculpture can be cast in Bronze Resin or Foundry Bronze metal depending on which material you prefer.

How The Sculpture Was Made

I visited Spence to take photos, measurements and videos of him in her owner’s chosen pose, then proceeded to model ‘Spence’ in clay.

Once I’d sculpted the Lying Labradoodle statue a rubber mould was taken, with ‘keys’ placed in the rubber to ensure proper positioning. Then a shell of fibreglass was applied, to protect the mould and support it during the casting process.
