The beautiful bronze Standing Border Terrier sculpture is a casting of an original sculpture. It is hand cast by a British foundry or resin caster and is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. This is an original foundry or resin casting of the sculptor’s work that she has personally approved.
This casting is a perfect recreation of the original sculpture and bears the artist’s signature and its own unique edition number.

The inspiration behind the sculpture
I’d wanted to do a Border Terrier for a long time, and was lucky to be commissioned to sculpt Archie, who is very representative of the breed. His stance and presence is naturally very sculptural and he posed for me beautifully.
While I was with him, Archie followed the gardener around between the buildings, and I heard he liked to sit with him in the greenhouse. Archie is also best friends with the cat.
How it was made
After taking Archie’s measurements I took lots of photographs of him in a variety of poses, watching his expressions and mannerisms, and hearing about the way he behaved at home with his family. After that, with his owners, I decided which pose would suit Archie best, then proceeded to model him in clay.
Once I’d sculpted Archie a rubber mould was taken, with ‘keys’ placed in the rubber to ensure proper positioning. Then a shell of fibreglass was applied, to protect the mould and support it during the casting process.
Archie No 2 arrived just now, we love it so much and Archie no 1 had a sniff to see what all the fuss was about, then later when we decided where he was going to stand had another sniff to make sure there was not another intruder into his life.
