PORTRAIT OF A DOG RESTING ITS HEAD ON A WOMAN SCULPTURE

“This sculpture was created to express that timeless and beautiful bond between a dog and person. Adopting my first dog was a really big part of my life and the emotional attachment we developed felt like one of the most powerful feelings possible. I love capturing the beautiful connection between human and animal. I would love to do more sculptures depicting this relationship.”

This marble resin or bronze statue of a dog and a woman bears Tanya’s signature and unique edition number. Your casting of the Portrait of a Dog Resting Its Head on a Woman sculpture will be personally approved and will be accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.

10% of the proceeds from this bronze dog sculpture support ‘The Dogs Trust’ animal charity.

This table-sized statue is sculpted by the artist Tanya Russell, who is the UK’s pre-eminent dog sculptor. Tanya has a passion for improving the welfare of the animals she sculpts and 10% of all proceeds from the Portrait of a Dog Resting Its Head on a Woman statue will go to the ‘Dogs Trust’, a charity that provides sanctuary and rehoming services for dogs in the UK and also lobbies for welfare policy changes all over the world.

The Portrait of a Dog Resting Its Head on a Woman is a limited edition sculpture, and your piece will be a superb recreation of the original wax sculpture, taken from a mould. Your bronze dog and woman sculpture can be cast in Marble Resin, Bronze Resin or Foundry Bronze metal depending on which material you prefer.

How The Sculpture Was Made

This piece was predominantly from my imagination.

I took lots of photographs of Asha in a variety of poses. I watched her expressions and mannerisms, and tried to replicate the way she sat and looked that day in Battersea. After that I proceeded to model Asha in clay.

Once I’d sculpted Asha a rubber mould was taken, with ‘keys’ placed in the rubber to ensure proper positioning. Then a shell of fibreglass was applied, to protect the mould and support it during the casting process.
