“The life-sized Sitting Working Spaniel sculpture was a commission of Molly, who I met when delivering a previously commissioned labrador portrait head. She was a ball of energy, but also very well behaved, sitting still on command and allowing me to take a set of photographs on the spot, in case her owners decided to commission her too. The intention was to capture the specific expression that Molly had when she was intent on her owner, of focused alertness, but also with a softness and an expression of ‘please!’ on her face.

This bronze spaniel statue bears Tanya’s signature and unique edition number. Your casting of the Sitting Working Spaniel sculpture will be personally approved and will be accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.

10% of the proceeds from this bronze dog sculpture support The Dogs Trust animal charity.

Which Material to Choose

Bronze Resin – bronze metal powder is mixed with a resin to create the appearance of foundry bronze metal, but is more affordable and lightweight.

Foundry Bronze  – refers to the poured molten metal that is cast solid or hollow, depending on size, at a bronze foundry (using the traditional lost wax process). It is more robust and will appreciate in value.

This handsome lifesized working spaniel statue is sculpted by the artist Tanya Russell, who is the UK’s pre-eminent dog sculptor. Tanya has a passion for improving the welfare of the animals she sculpts and 10% of all proceeds from the Sitting Working Spaniel statue will go to the ‘Dogs Trust’, a charity that provides sanctuary and rehoming services for dogs in the UK and also lobbies for welfare policy changes all over the world.

The Sitting Working Spaniel sculpture is a limited edition sculpture, and your piece will be a superb recreation of the original clay lab sculpture, taken from a mould. Your bronze dog sculpture can be cast in Bronze Resin or Foundry Bronze metal depending on which material you prefer.

How The Sculpture Was Made

I visited Molly to take photos, measurements and videos of her in her owner’s chosen pose, then proceeded to model ‘Molly’ in clay.

Once I’d sculpted the Sitting Working Spaniel a rubber mould was taken, with ‘keys’ placed in the rubber to ensure proper positioning. Then a shell of fibreglass was applied, to protect the mould and support it during the casting process.

Client Testimonials

“Molly has arrived safe and well and we are delighted! You have captured her every feature and soul – thank you!!! She went to sit by her immediately and was a little unsure but then we found her again lying next to her. This spot on the stairs is one of Molly’s haunts as she likes to cover off all bases if one of us is upstairs and the other downstairs. I think that head will become quite shiny as we have already started patting it on passing (just as we do with the Tess head)!”
